When the client hired me they were seeking a Visual Designer with UX experience to work on the redesign over 2 weeks.
The client supplied me with graphics and copy. Based on what had been given to me, I was able to contribute to the visual design language of the site.
First and foremost, I conducted a heuristic analysis of their current site. This process was important because it helped me to understand how any visual design changes would impact the user experience of the new site. I based my analysis on Nielsen Norman’s Usability Heuristics.
Secondly, I was interested in gathering requirements. To do this I essentially interviewed stakeholders to understand how the site would be used and what they had envisioned. This exercise was important in the development of my site map and information architecture.
Following this process, I created wireframes. The wireframes were important in my process because they enabled me to get early feedback from the stakeholders, as well as establish touchpoints that I would later implement into the UI.
Lastly, based on initial stakeholder interviews, I created a style tile consistent with their vision that would best complement the product offerings.
